The World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) is ready to send its team to participate in the cricket world cup for the blind that will be held in Cape Town from 26th November till 9th December 2014. Pakistan will be the defending champions led by the team captain Zeeshan Abbasi. The tournament will also include India, Sri Lanka, Australia, West Indies, England, South Africa and Bangladesh. The opening ceremony will be held on 26th November 2014.
The Pakistan cricket team consists of Zafar Iqbal, Idrees Salim, Sajid Nawaz, Aamir Ashfaq, Mohammad Taufeeq, Mohmmad Ayaz, Anees Javed, Nisar Ali, Badr Muneer, Mohammad Afzal, Haroon Khan, Mohammad Jameel, Mohammad Akram, Israr Hasan, Tariq Samuel. Mohammad Waqas, Mohammad Arsalan and Irfan Majeed will be among the reserves. The team will participate with high spirits to face their rivals India in the opening match of the tournament.
The third world cup for the blind was held at Islamabad in 2006, where Pakistan won the tournament. Recently, the T20 cricket world cup for the blind was held in 2012, where India beat Pakistan to win the tournament. The international Pakistan cricket team seems to be in a dismal state, so let’s pin all our hopes on the Pakistan cricket team for the blind.
