Dr Afia’s attorney’s Stephen Downs and Kathy Manley has appealed the government of Pakistan to write a letter to President Obama requesting Dr Afia’s release, as Mr. Obama has no political gains he may free her as a goodwill gesture at the end of his term.
Dr Afia was a Pakistani citizen and was abducted from Karachi with her 3 young children. On 31st March 2003 many Pakistani channels and in April international media such as NBC reported that Dr. Afia is arrested and handed over to USA. Her family was pressurized not to speak if they care about the safety of her daughter.

The case was highlighted again in 2008 after Moazzam Begg a reported from Aljazeera and Yvonne Ridley from Britain confirmed Dr Afia’s presence in Bagram Air Base where she was being tortured. They called her Prisoner 650, after this there was an uproar demanding her release.
As a result of this media attention Afghan government came forward and claimed that Dr Afia is arrested from Ghazni along with her son and was carrying details of attack on USA and chemicals. Then she was shot and transferred to USA.
Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed, so we're demanding by #OneLetterForAfia

From 2008 she is in prison and no one is allowed to contact her, her defense lawyers were allowed to meet a woman but the face of that woman was covered while it is known that Dr. Afia never covered her face. The woman didn’t spoke a single word which increased the suspicions of her lawyers. No one knows whether Dr Afia is still alive and in what condition she is in.
