State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that new/fresh currency notes will be distributed from 18th August through the large network of over 9,000 branches of commercial banks for the general public.
It has been announced that bank branches will give fresh/cuurecy packets to the account holder and general public. One packet each of Rs10 and Rs20 per person will be given from Thursday (18th August) till the last working day before Eidul Fitr.
5 Rupees note will not be printed as 5 Rupees note will cancelled after 31st December 2010.
The person who wants fresh currency notes will have to provide original CNIC along with a photocopy of it for record.
Bank branches, however, may also issue a maximum of five packets each of Rs10 and Rs20 denomination fresh currency notes to their corporate clients on receipt of request on the company’s letterhead duly signed by the authorised representative.
