The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially added the study of Quran as a subject in government schools across the province. ‘Mutala Quran-e-Hakeem’ is the new book which has been added in the syllabus to culture the new generation with the verses of Quran.
The books were published by ‘The Ilm Foundation’ which published the books with their own funds and distributed them among schools without charging the students or the KPK government.
The matter of the book was prepared by renowned scholars like Shuja uddin Sheikh who has inspired millions in Pakistan with his quranic lectures.
This step was appreciated by citizens of KPK & people from other provinces demanded that this initiative should not be limited to KPK. Social media users appreciated the step and encouraged the Federal government to fulfill the constitutional requirement of spreading the teaching of Quran which is an obligation of the state as per the constitution.
Previously Arabic and some Quranic verses were part of the schooling system but later most of it was removed. Another problem with it was that they were properly designed according to the age and capability of the students.
