KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement has decided to stage sit-in at 9 places in Karachi whereas it has decided to boycott the session of Sindh Assembly as a protest against the arrest of its party workers. MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has said that he will not further bear such an act, adding that sit-ins will be staged in every corner of Karachi.
According to sources the places where MQM has decided to stage sit-ins include Rizvia Society, Liaquatabad, Landhi, Clifton Three Swords, Numaish Chowrangi, Sharah-e-Faisal, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nagan Chowrangi and CM House. MQM has already been staging sit-in at CM House since last night.
It is pertinent to mention here that rangers raided at MPA office of MQM in Karachi whereas general workers’ meeting was going on. Some party workers were arrested during the raid. The leader of MQM Farooq Sattar has said that MQM was being sentenced for its demand of administration units.
According to sources, the rangers arrested some party workers of MQM during a raid last night at MPA office of MQM, situated at Scheme 33 in the area Gulzar-e- Hijri, at Abul Hasan Isfahani road. When the rangers raided, MQM’s general workers’ meeting was going on. Rabita Committee MQM condemned the raid. After the raid, party workers started protest on Abul Hasan Isfahani road and demanded that all those arrested should be released.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain condemned the action and said that although MQM was trying to pacify Karachi, it was not being appreciated but on the other hand, such actions were being performed against MQM which was condemnable. He demanded of the government to release all the party workers, arrested last night.
