LAHORE: Lahore High Court has rejected a plea to file cases of Model Town Incident against 21 persons including the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. The court has stated that the petitioner is not the affected party.
The petition was filed by a citizen in which he pleaded that although the session court had ordered to file cases against these persons, the cases were not being filed. Lahore High Court upheld the objection, stating that the petitioner was not the real party and the petition was rejected.
It is pertinent to mention here that a clash between police and the members of Minhajul Qura’an took place in Model Town, Lahore in the month of June when the police tried to remove protecting barriers around the institution, Minhajul Qura’an. During the clash, 14 persons including women were killed whereas many others were injured due to shelling and firing from the police. The district court Lahore had ordered to file cases against 21 persons including the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, 8 federal and provincial ministers and police high-ups.
