The government has suspended mobile phone service in sensitive areas of Karachi, LahoreĀ and other cities in the wake of terror warning, issued by the Interior Ministry earlier in the day. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed that cellular phone service has been blocked across Lahore.
The service will remain suspended till 2pm tomorrow (Monday). Cellular and data services were blocked in some parts of the country, including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Multan. In Karachi, the service has been suspended temporarily in Red Zone.
On Sunday night reports were received that consumers were facing difficulty in receiving mobile phone reception in areas of Karachi and Lahore. Reports were also received that the service of a mobile company was suspended in Quetta.
Warid, Zong service were blocked whereas Ufone & Telenor service is working. A business told AwamiWeb that he was unable to call on emergency number. AwamiWeb Correspondent told that people are unable to call important emergency numbers like Edhi, Emergency Police numbers, chhipa and other important numbers.
Update: All mobile networks (warid, mobilink, ufone, zong and telenor) are not working in most areas of Karachi.
