According to report by World Bank, only 8.7% Pakistanis own bank accounts in Pakistan. In 2012 the Global Findex released the Database according to which 10.3% Pakistani’s own bank accounts. On other hand report claims that in South Asia percentage of bank account is 45.5% and in lower middle income countries percentage is 41.8%.
The report also said that only 2.9% of Pakistani’s holds debit card. In South Asia region the percentage of debit card holders are 18%.
The percentage of debit card holders on The Global Findex Database was same as 2.9%. According to both report there has been no change in the percentage of debit card-holding in Pakistan, beside the percentage of debit holders in South Asia region increases by 10.8%.
As in mobile accounts, Pakistan performs better in the database as 5.8% Pakistani’s have mobile accounts. Compare to this South Asia and lower middle income group were 2.6% and 2.5%, respectively in mobile accounts.
In Pakistan, percentage of active micro-finance account is 11.4%. According to the Tameer Bank CEO Nadeem Hussain, It is expected in 2018 that the ratio users of mobile accounts will be about 10 million.
