Lahore High Court (LHC) heard the petition against Nawaz Sharif for declaring non eligible on the charges of corruption after 20 years. The chief justice LHC sent the case to justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed. The plea was filed against Nawaz Sharif by a citizen Ali Imran.
It is worth mentioning here that he plea was filed in 1991 to stop Nawaz Sharif contesting elections; meanwhile different allegation of corrupting and illegal allotment of land was leveled in the petition.
Meanwhile the case was heard by a full bench of LHC and now the case will heard by the nominated Chief Justice of LHC Azmat Saeed. The counsel of applicant advocated Javed Iqbal Jaffery has said that a full bench of LHC was constituted twenty years ago but the case was not heard by the full bench; meanwhile the application talking stance in its application that Nawaz sharif was accused of corruption, so he should be declared as ineligible for contesting elections.
Chief Justice LHC Ijaz Chaudhry has said that he is being elevated as Justice in the Supreme Court, so it would better that the new Chief Justice would constitute a full bench for the hearing of this case.
