Peshawar: Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa government in order to combat the frequent terrorist attacks that hit the province and much the capital city has allocated Rs 200 million for the mobile tracking systems for police and other law enforcement agencies. Chief Minister Secretariat and the provincial financial department have approved the amount.
After the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf took over the governing charge of the province, the area has been site of suicidal attacks and dead bodies. In last two months, as many as 150 people have lost their lives victim of the target killings, suicide bombings and the criminal activities planned to deteriorate the peace in the region.
The technology had been previously used by the Intelligence and Militant Bureaus only. The police had to rely on them for arresting the criminals. Now being equipped with the technology, police forces would be able to reduce the time duration to hold the terrorists.
Mobiles phones are the primary devices used by the terrorist for the attacks.
