Karachi: The Karachi University administration has announced that they are changing their admission policy from 2015 onwards. The university will be conducting their own entry tests and will stop their policy of using the NTS as the basis fro admission. The decision was announced by Karachi University’s vice chancellor Dr.Qaiser.
Dr Qaiser revealed that the policy was changed after a decision from the Lahore high court which removed the HEC established rule for making NTS compulsory for universities. Therefore Karachi university will be conducting its own entry tests for the 2015 admissions.
Dr Qaiser told the media that the admissions fro more than 20 disciplines had been conducted through NTS the previous year and the results had been very positive. However the university has been conducting its own entrance tests for M.Phil and Phd examinations and there have never been any complaints. He said that if the university could successfully conduct its own entrance tests for M.phil nad Phd then ithere was no reason to believe the same could not be done for Honors and Masters admissions.
Dr Qaiser further revealed that Karachi University is planning to hold admission tests for more than 25 disciplines this year, the final decision for which will be made by the Academic council meeting. All admissions through this test will be based on merit and there will be no ranking system. All those who pass the entrance test shall be eligible for admission
