Lahore: Wicket keeper batsman, Karman Akmal has pleaded to be given three chances to prove himself as an opener. He insisted that if he fails to justify himself at the position, the authorities shall drop him out of the squad.
Dual role played by the cricketer is no good, both for the team as well his brother and the Pakistan cricket team member, Umar Akmal. However, he has the potential to prove himself as an asset through his batting skills. The wicket keeper batsman was dropped out of the team, after his unsatisfied performance display at the Champion’s trophy. Giving interview to one of the media channels, the player said that he enjoys being a top order batsman in T20 and one-day cricket matches. He said that changes in batting positions, affected his performance. Fixed batting order in domestic cricket has shown up persistent performance by him.
He further said that the former captains Inzamam-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi gave him positions as an opener, and he had performed well during the time. But, playing at 7th or 8th position could do no good to his performance, said the cricketer.
He insisted to be given three chances to perform as an opener. He said that these days I am showing good performance, if I fail to do justice to my wordings, the authorities can drop me out of the squad.
Kamran expressed desire to representing the team for future 5 years. He said, “Dual responsibility of wicket keeping and batting has affected my performance, but I look forward to playing better now”.
