Jamaat-e Islami (JI) Karachi has announced to hold a grand public gathering in Karachi on February 26 in protest to government’s policies that had a prominent tilt to the United States and poverty, unemployment and hike in prices of essential goods and increase in tariffs of electricity and gas. The grand public gathering would be addressed by JI Pakistan Chief Syed Munawwar Hassan, Secretary General Liaquat Baloch and other central leaders.
In a statement issued Friday, JI Karachi acting Chief Birjees Ahmed said that JI has been on the move in condemnation to government’s pro-United States and anti-people policies across the country. JI has been carrying out awareness campaign in every nook and cranny of the country on exploitative measures against the masses.
He said that people of the country have resorted to JI’s efforts in large number, which was a clear indication that the people were fed up with the present government and wanted riddance. People wanted change and the people are getting prepared for revolution in the country.
While criticizing certain leaders for their claims that they would bring about revolution, he said that they were part of that elite class that ruled the country many times. However, it was imperative that all forces that wanted revolution should get united because the revolution could only be brought in with collective efforts.
He lambasted the government and declared it had failed to deliver during last four years due to which people have been deprived of their basic necessities. Only JI could ensure change in the country through its revolutionary manifesto and would make Pakistan a welfare state.
