New Delhi: A number of imminent clerics in Indian has made an appeal to the Muslims living in India to refrain from slaughtering cow on the sacred occasion of Eid ul Adha as as a mark of respect for the spiritual feelings of Hindus.
According to India media, deputy head of Islamic Seminary Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband Maulana Abdul Khaliq Madrasi said that the institution advocates Muslim avoid sacrificing cow in the country as the animal is too sacred for the Hindus.
He said though there is a ban in some states on cow slaughtering Muslims should refrain sacrificing the animal even in the area where it has not been barred.
Furthermore, in a statement issued on Tuesday, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board vice-president and Shia cleric Maulana Syed Kalbe Sadiq said, “It is my plea to Muslims to completely restrain from sacrificing the cow on Eid-ul-Azha. India is our country and we should respect the sentiments of Hindus who are in the majority.”
