Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a stay order on the Metro Bus project on Wednesday. According to media reports Islamabad High Court headed by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in which a petition against the demolition of a private graveyard situated on Ninth Avenue’s green belt in Islamabad was heard.
The petitioners argued that their ancestral graveyard is located on land of 22 Marla at Ninth Avenue’s green belt in which there are 20 to 22 graves of their families. Petitioners added that Metro Bus project will insult the graves of their loved ones so that work on the project should be stopped. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui said while hearing the case that no one can allow the insult of the graves of his mother and his other close relatives so that the project of Metro Bus to be stopped immediately due to graveyard located in the vicinity of Ninth Avenue’s green belt boundaries.
The project director of the Metro Bus Project Zahid Saeed has claimed that he had already discussed the issue with CDA chairman and he had assured him of his support. IHC has issued notices to the Chairman Capital development Authority, Project Director Metro Bus, Chief Commissioners of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. IHC wants replies in this regard from the project director of the Metro Bus Project Zahid Saeed, Chief Commissioner Jawad Paul and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal.
