One of the prime importance of the month of Ramadan is that it is the month when the first Surah of Holy Quran was revealed on Prophet Mohammad (SAWW). Quran, the book of Allah was revealed on this Night of Power, Night of Value, Night of Decree also called the Night of Measures.
As per the Quran (Sure Qadr), Angels come down on the earth on this night, Quran states the importance of Laylat ul Qadr as it said, “We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power: And what will explain to thee what the night of power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah’s permission, on every errand: Peace!…This until the rise of dawn!” —Sura 97 (Al-Qadr), ?y?t 1-5[5]
However, it is important to mention that there is no specific date mentioned regarding Laylat al-Qadr in Quran or Sunnah and it is to be found in the last five odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, i.e. the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th night.
How to Find Shab e Qadr in Ramadan?
We all know that Shab-e-Qadr comes in the Taak nights of Last Ashra of Ramadan. One suggestion is that in these nights one should start saying this supplication
after Maghrib prayer and continue reading this after Isha prayer and Taraweeh prayer and try to read this till suhoor. After suhoor and fajr prayer continue reading this till sunrise. Insha’Allah we will get shab-e-Qadr this way.
Another way to find the great night, a Muslim is highly recommended to devote himself in the remembrance of Allah by staying in the mosque for the final ten days of Ramadan i.e. Itik?f (retreat).
There he needs to do following things the most,
- Recite the Qur’an abundantly
- Strive to gain forgiveness
- The main Dua for Laylatul Qadr is,
Aisha (Ra) said: “I asked the Messenger of Allah: ‘O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?’ He said: ‘Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.’ “
- Gaining forgiveness on laylatul Qadr
Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that the Messenger (SAWW)said: “Whoever stands (in prayer) in Laylatul Qadr while nourishing his faith with self-evaluation, expecting reward from Allah, will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” (Bukhari and Muslim).
It is also recommended to observe extra prayers on the night of Qadr. One who wants to make this night valuable he should pray Salat ul Tasbih every odd night of the last ten days of Ramadan.
