Lahore: Despite of declaring bounty of 10 Million Dollars on sixty two years old Hafiz Saeed by the US, the name of alleged founder of Lashkar-e-Tayyabah is yet to be entered in the Most Wanted Criminals list of Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI) whereas the name of Al-Qaeda Chief Ayman Al Zawahiri can be seen with his photograph in this list.
US Foreign Office has declared a bounty of twenty five million dollars in helping to arrest Al Qaeda’s Chief.
Hafiz Saeed, who belongs to Sargodha was arrested in 2006 during Pervez Musharraf’s rule because of the activities that according to the government could have been dangerous and create mistrust in the bilateral relations with the other countries. However he was ordered to be released in December the same year by the courts.
Saeed was once again arrested under MPO in December 2008 when United Nations declared Jamaat-ud-Dawa the front of outlawed organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. On 1st June 2009, he was again released on the orders of Lahore High Court. Few days later the Mumbai attacks severe sanctions were imposed on Lashkar-e-Taiba as it was accused by the Indian government of being involved in those attacks.
Hafiz Saeed has completed double Masters Degree from the University of Punjab and has done specialization in Islamic Studies and Arabic language from Shah Saud University in Riyadh.
