Karachi: Express TV will be showing a new drama serial based on a classical Urdu and Persian poet Ghalib. The promos have already been seen flashing across TV screens that shows Ghalib deeply engrossed in penning down his philosophical thoughts while bent over a parchment paper with a quill in his hand.
It is about time that the lives of our legendry personalities were also depicted by our writers for the public. In this case, Ghalib’s portrayal through this drama will be a must watch for our viewers, who will get to know Ghalib as one of the literary genius of all time.
Ghalib was born as Mirza Asadullah Baig Khan on 27th December, 1797. He used Ghalib as his pen name, meaning to be ‘dominant’. Ghalib was born during the British colonial rule, belonging to the Mughal Empire. The Britishers brought the downfall of the magnificent Mughal Empire. Ghalib’s poetry mostly depicted this era.
It is important to teach the young generation about the valuable literature left behind by these personalities, as our youth seemed more distant from their cultural values and literature than ever perceived to be. This will be a big step for Express TV who has been defamed in terms of choice of dramas.
