RAWALPINDI: Four Major Generals of Army have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant Generals. Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said that those promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Generals include Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, Major General Amir Riaz, Major General Sadiq Ali and Major General Umer Durrani.
A high level promotion board presided over by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has promoted these Major Generals to the rank of lieutenant Generals. It is pertinent to mention here that Asim Saleem Bajwa is the Director General (DG) of ISPR right now whereas Amir Riaz is serving as DG Military Operations (DG MO).
According to a local newspaper, those promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Generals will be deployed in different positions next month. According to sources, the spokesman of ISPR has tweeted on twitter concerning these promotions.
It is pertinent to mention here that Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa was appointed as Director General of ISPR in April 2012 by the then Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani. Asim Saleem Bajwa took his office in June 2012 after Major General Athar Abbas was retired.
