Due to weak Educational Department private schools in Karachi are free in managing their affairs. Despite it being illegal they have once again increased the monthly fees by 15-50%.
Foundation Public School (FPS) also increased the monthly fees after which the parents and family members of children decided to hold a protest which was held today in front of FPS building. This is not the first time that parents have arranged any protest against increased fees.

According to law private schools can only increase the fees by 5% each year and that is also subject to prior permission from Directorate Private Schools. But it seems that the private schools know that government departments are not interested in fulfilling their obligations.
Another law passed in Sindh Assembly makes it compulsory for private schools to at least 10% of their enrolled students should get free education. This was to ensure that children from poor families also get better education, but no government department checks the stats of private schools to know whether the law is being implemented or not.
