Karachi: Pakistan lost another sports gem as former Olympian and outstanding National boxer Jan Muhammad Baloch died here Friday early morning at the age of 72 after long illness, sources told.
According to the sources, Jan Muhammad was suffering from the liver cancer and his health deteriorated at about 3:30 am after which he was rushed to the hospital but died on the way at 4am.
He was Pakistan’s national boxing champion in 1970 and represented the country at the Asian Games in Bangkok and won a silver medal the same year. He also represented Pakistan in Munich Olympics 1972 held in West Germany.
The funeral prayer of the deceased was offered today morning outside Lyari General Hospital which was attended by a huge number of locals, relatives and his colleagues. He has left behind five sons and five daughters.
