Ever wondered why your hands or body gets wrinkled after spending few minutes in water? This question forced many researchers to conduct a detailed study to find the reason behind this and now they claim they have an answer.
Mark Changizi from United States of America (USA) claimed that it was to provide a better grip to human beings in water. His team in 2011 showed the pattern claiming how the wrinkles were designed to provide better grip.
Another study in Newcastle University in UK also supported the claim that it provided better grip in water. Tom Smulders the lead researchers explained just like the thread on tyres these wrinkles make more skin to be in contact with the object providing a better grip.
They observed this after dividing students into two team, members of first team were asked to put their hands in water for few minutes and while the other team had dry hands. It was found that wrinkled hands had better grip on wet marbles and some other objects.
