ISLAMABAD: Ex-President of Pakistan General retired Pervaiz Musharraf has claimed that he had announced to impose emergency in the country on Nov 03, 2007 after taking advice from ex-Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani and other senior civilians and individuals that were associated with the military hierarchy.
It is pertinent to mention here that this is the first occasion, after the petition filed concerning treason in special court on behalf of Muslim League Nawaz on Dec 2013, that Musharraf has mentioned the name of Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani in the affair of emergency in the country.
The ex-military dictator, Pervaiz Musharraf termed ex-Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani the key accused while his statement was being recorded by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
He said that Ashfaq Kayani was appointed as Chief of Army Staff on Nov 27, 2007 but he did not annul emergency. “Ashfaq Kayani is also the key accused as he did not cancel the emergency,” added he.
