Before the industrialist revolution in Europe the western world was in Dark ages while Muslim world enjoyed its Golden age under Caliphate with the best libraries, educations institutes, research centers and architecture.
Among one of the most praised innovation from Muslim history is the Elephant clock which was invented by Al-Jazari. It used earlier clock designs from Chinese & Indian culture and added more advanced mechanism form the Islamic world to design this magnificent clock.
The clock was so great that it even inspired Ibn Batuta who travelled around the world and said nothing has inspired me more than the elephant clock. Two major reproduction of the clock have been made one is installed in Ibn Batuta mall in Dubai and another replica is installed in Switzerland’s famous Watch Museum of Le Locle.
