There has been lots of discussion that either delimitation should be done in Karachi or not. Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has opposed the delimitation process in Karachi and have demanded that if delimitation is done in metropolitan city then delimitation should also be done in whole country.
MQM leaders have said that delimitation of constituencies should be carried out after
population census. Few days back Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim said that it is not possible to carry out delimitation of constituencies in Karachi.
a leading media group of Pakistan also asked people through poll that “Should delimitation be done in Karachi or countrywide before the upcoming general elections?” 41% answered for Karachi, 49% was in favor of delimitation for whole country whereas 10% were of the view that delimitation should not be done at this time.
As a common man, I think to single out Karachi is not the right way and if delimitation of constituencies is to be done then it should be done in all over Pakistan but now it looks that this exercise cannot be done before general elections.
