Quinton de Kock became the first wicket keeper batsmsn to hit three centuries in three one-day internationals and he also became the fifth batsman to score three conesctive centuries. However, the continued rain at Centurion resulted in deserting the third and final match between the South Africa and India. South Africa won the series 2-0.
De Villiers and De Kock hit 109 and 101 respectively making a score of 301 with 8 knocked out at the last match held. South Africa set for the series victory with 2-0. The heavy rainfall during the innings break did not give the chance to India to bat. Hence, the match got abandoned without further proceedings.
The series has earned much recognition to the 20 year old Protease player. Kock became the highest scorer in the three days match bilateral series. While as a wicketkeeper, his good batting display with 3 centuries in a row is an added achievement.
Previous two games had been easy for De Kock. But the collapse of Africans’ wicket with 28-3 by Indian bowler Ishant Sharma posed challenge on De Kock .
The dropped catches of Kock at 37 and 43 gave tough time to the Indian team. The partnership of the two players, De Villiers and Kock earned 171 runs to the Protease team. The players scored 45 runs in the batting power play. Thus, ending the knock down capacity of Ishant.
