During hearing a petition the Lahore High Court ordered the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) to conduct the examinations of Central Superior Services (CSS) in Urdu rather than English. The consul of FPSC said that arrangements are being made to conduct the examinations in Urdu.
English Is A Colonial Language:
Previously the Supreme Court also asked the federal and provincial governments to use Urdu rather than English which is a colonial language not understood by majority of people.
Why Not In Local Languages?
The decision by Lahore High Court opened a Pandora Box regarding the languages in Pakistan, many are asking questions that if the exams will be conducted in Urdu then why not in Punjabi, Sindhi or other local languages. Because many people from these provinces appear in exams in their local languages.
Questions are also being raised that in a country where most private institutes provide education in English, where most students chose English in higher education and where even CSS recommended books are in English then how can we expect student to give exams in Urdu.
Instead of taking CSS in urdu, FPSC shld lower the marking scheme & standard of English to assist those with poor English background

Majority Of Students Fail In English:
Currently CSS exams are held in English which deprives students from the lower class, who are the majority in Pakistan, from appearing in the CSS exam. Even from those who appear in the exam 92% fail in English indicating how ill prepared we are in the foreign language.
I knw alot of bright people who r urdu medium bt dnt flourish bcz of english in exams,b like china & france who support their language!#CSS

A Colonial Examination:
It should be remembered that (CSS) examination are being held in English even before the establishment of Pakistan, when it was called Indian Civil Service which were held to appoint civil servants for British empire to run the government. Unfortunately the later governments failed to change the examination and training system which was meant for colonialism.

Can any one tell how long it would take CSS to be conducted in urdu?
