RAWALPINDI: After the tense situation in Afghanistan, Pakistan Army is reviewing the security of border with Afghanistan. A statement issued from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) after Corps Commanders Conference in general Head Quarters, says that the conference discussed external security situation and especially, after the situation in Afghanistan, the security arrangements on Pak-Afghan border were considered.
The Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif headed the Corps Commanders Conference. According to sources, the steps to prevent movement on border have been planned. It is pertinent to mention here that biometric systems were installed, fences were built and trenches were dug in past in order to prevent movement on Pak-Afghan border however, some Afghan leaders opposed such steps.
Pakistan Army believes and it has reiterated in Corps Commanders Conference that it is essential to develop security arrangements on border in order to get results in anti-terrorism operation that was started in North Waziristan.
General Raheel Sharif said in Centcom Asia Security Conference this year on Sep 29 that it is essential to implement Pak-Afghan border arrangements in order to get results of operation Zarb-i-Azb.
