It is very hard to find those things in Pakistan which directly benefits common people or poor people. Inflation is skyrocketing and in the last 2-3 years price of almost every basic commodity has increased a lot. Government has failed to provide any relief to the common people. Price of essential products like rice, milk, vegetables, meat has been on rise. Those products which are exported from other countries are also very expensive because of Pakistan currency devaluation.
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is used in more than 2.5 million vehicles. Most of the middle class people are using it as it is cheaper then petrol. When Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered to reduce the price of CNG by almost Rs. 30 per kilogram it directly helped middle class people as they got relief. But now three day load shedding of CNG and long queues has once again troubled the people.
It would be good if government forms a policy that only 1000cc vehicles or less can have CNG kits. This will helped a lot as many public transports are using CNG bad quality kits and are have also not reduced their fares according to CNG. Many of those people who can bear the cost of petrol have also CNG kits in their cars. If this is implemented then CNG shortage problem will also be resolved.
It is also strange to note that in October 2012 All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) said that price of CNG is very much high and it should be brought down. APCNGA Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha said at that time that the price of CNG in Thailand is 76.70 % less than the price of petrol. In Bangladesh, CNG is available at 68.61 % lesser price. In India and Indonesia CNG is 58.84 % and 51.65 % less then price of petrol respectively.
But now Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha has criticized the price formula of gas and is of the view that it is causing heavy losses to CNG stations owners. It is only a dream for a common people to know whether government is lying in this matter or CNG industry has become mafia. I along with other people hope that Supreme Court can only solve this issue.
