Islamabad: It’s been not more than a week since United States of America re-elected Barack Obama as the country’s President, the people of at least 20 US states have lodged petitions to disaffiliate their State from the US. The petitions, filed on Sunday, have requested Obama administration to peacefully allow the applied state to withdraw from the United States of America and grant them creating their own government.
According to details, State of Louisiana was the first to file such a petition followed by Texas, New Jersey and Michigan while many in Texas have been outspoken about separating from the Union for years.
According to the most recent current links and numbers of petition signers for each of the 20 states (each petition requires 25,000 signatures within a month to be considered by the government):
Louisiana – 12,192 signatures
Texas – 14,883 signatures
Florida – 4,033 signatures
Alabama – 3,975 signatures
North Carolina – 3,823 signatures
Kentucky – 3,229 signatures
Indiana – 3,194 signatures
Mississippi – 3,171 signatures
Colorado – 3,055 signatures
Montana – 2,867 signatures
South Carolina – 2,632 signatures
Georgia – 1,629 signatures
Michigan – 2,482 signatures
Missouri – 2,196 signatures
New Jersey – 2,485 signatures
New York – 2,847 signatures
North Dakota – 2,508 signatures
Oregon – 2,678 signatures
Tennessee – 2,659 signatures
Arkansas – 350 signatures
The petitions came in sight in the aftermath of the election of Barack Obama for the second time. The people in United States feel that their voices are not been heard anymore and for far too long special interest groups have dictated the direction the country is headed.
“Michael E,” the author of the Louisiana petition, filed his petition using extracts from the Declaration of Independence.
In Texas, “Micah H” states in his petition, “The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government’s neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending.” He went on to add that Texas “maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world,” making it “practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union.”
The question remains intact; will these petitions secure the needed 25,000 signatures? to see United States of America in shambles.
