Abbottabad: After a much long delay, a high-level commission formed more than a year ago in order to investigate the US raid on Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad, the commission has finally completed its report exposing shocking facts regarding the Abbottabad Raid. All the operational units, jets were grounded while the radars installed for the warning call were not funtioning that night, report stated.
According to the report released Thursday, the US helicopter continued to fly in the territory of Abbottabad for almost 16 minutes and there was no counter attack from the Pakistani side to shoot down the foreign helicopter.
The commission was headed by former judge of the Supreme Court, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal. The report further said that Pakistani jets were sent two hours after US commandos concluded their task. Army Chief called Air Force Chief late night on phone and ordered him to send Pakistani jets to check the situation and clear the area. Air Chief then sent two F-16 jets to Abbottabad but it was all too late.
According to the commission head, the commission investigated more than 1500 witnesses, including officials, surviving members of Osama bin Laden’s family, surviving members of the family of the two Pakistani brothers who were protecting Osama bin Laden, civilian officials concerned in Islamabad, secretaries of government ministries and local officials, neighbors, notables, media people and military and intelligence personnel of the Abbottabad area.
