Saudi Court ended the marriage between a couple who were fed by the same mother in their infancy. The Saudi Court pondered the case for 3 months before coming to a conclusion in the light of various Quranic verses and Hadith. The couple was marred for 25 years and had 7 children. After the decision, the two got divorced, thus ending the relationship.
According to the reports, the Saudi government reviewed the case of the couple who were actually foster brother and sister to each other. This means that they were fed milk by the same mother when they were infants. According to the Shariah, children belonging to different parents are also brothers and sisters to each other, if they are fed milk by the same mother. The children of the woman, who has fed milk to them, will also be brothers and sisters to them.
The law states if such a case happens, the children cannot marry each other. The case was also specifically reviewed by the Mufti of Saudi Arabia Mufti-e-Azam Sheikh Abdul Aziz Aal Al-Sheikh and he also came to the same conclusion.
